History
A historic region with winemaking dating back to antiquity. In the 17th century, British merchants spread Port wine worldwide, and in 1756, the world's first appellation system was established. In the 21st century, dramatic quality improvements in dry table wines have ushered in a new golden age.
Sommelier Note
Douro is one of the most exciting regions today. Beyond Port, dry red wine quality is remarkably high, rivaling Bordeaux and Rhône. The complexity from indigenous variety blends is unmatched. Experience both Vintage Port and aged dry reds.
