Swartland

Swartland

The epicenter of South Africa's wine revolution. Once a grain region, young winemakers began creating innovative wines from old bush vines in the 21st century. Chenin Blanc and Syrah are particularly acclaimed, earning it the nickname 'South Africa's Rhône.'

History

Dutch settlers began viticulture in the 17th century. Long a mass-production region, the establishment of 'Swartland Independent Producers' in the 2000s shifted focus to terroir-driven, high-quality winemaking.

Sommelier Note

Swartland Chenin Blanc represents the new potential of South African wine. Wines from old vines are complex, with layers of honey, white flowers, and minerals. Syrah is a Rhône-style masterpiece combining pepper spice with elegance.
