History

Winemaking dates back to Roman times, with monasteries developing viticulture in the Middle Ages. Registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2000. The steep terraced vineyards are the crystallization of centuries of human endeavor.

Sommelier Note

Wachau's Grüner Veltliner is characterized by white pepper spiciness and minerality. Smaragd level wines are particularly powerful with aging potential. Excellent with Japanese cuisine, especially tempura and grilled fish.
